Tweetbot, one of the, if not THE, most popular twitter apps on smartphones, decided to do something different to combat app piracy. Where most companies would disable the software, spam the user with messages or simply not do anything at all, Tweetbot takes it upon themselves to tweet out a message to all the user’s followers stating the following:
I’ve been demoing a pirated copy of @
tweetbot and I really like it so I’m going to purchase a copy!
Public humiliation is a different take on the piracy battle and it’ll be interesting to see if it will help chip away at the never ending fight.
